If you use a yard geofence (Settings → Business → yard address), crew normally have to be at the yard to clock in and out. Allow clock-out away from the yard (on by default, same settings block) covers the real-world exceptions — a late finish, a site miles from base, kit staying on site overnight.
How it works for the crew: if they tap Clock out while outside the geofence, the app shows how far from the yard they are and offers "Clock out from here". They must have location on (no GPS fix, no remote clock-out) and give a reason — quick picks like Late finish or Site too far from yard, or their own words.
What you see: a notification every time (📍 name, distance, reason), and a remote pill on that shift in Team → Timesheets showing the distance and reason. It's an exception path with a paper trail, not a way around the geofence — switch it off and clock-out goes back to being hard-blocked outside the radius.
The rest of the end-of-day still works away from the yard: end-of-use machine checks can be completed from wherever they are, or skipped into the usual next-morning catch-up. The weekly yard check stays yard-only (it's a check of the premises) — it simply waits until they're next in. Clock-in always requires the yard.
