Tank mix calculator — exact product per tank

Tank size, water volume, the rate off your product label — get the precise amount to add, and the area one tank covers. Works for boom sprayers, handguns and per-10L knapsack rates.

Per-hectare rates need your sprayer’s water volume — get it from the calibration calculator in two minutes.

Add to the tank

5 L

One tank covers ≈ 10,000(1 ha)

Half-filling? Scale it: half the water, half the product. Always follow your label — it’s the legal document.

The maths is the easy half. The record is the legal half.

SwardOps crews log every application from their phone — product, rate, water volume, weather, operator — with COSHH sheets attached. Inspector-ready without the ring binder.

Tank-mix questions, answered

How do I work out how much product to put in the tank?
For per-hectare label rates: area per tank = tank size ÷ your sprayer’s water volume (L/ha), then product per tank = label rate × that area. A 200 L tank at 200 L/ha covers 1 ha, so a 5 L/ha rate means 5 L in the tank. For knapsack rates given per 10 L of water, just scale by tank size.
Why do I need my sprayer’s water volume first?
A per-hectare rate only becomes a per-tank dose once you know how much area one tank covers — and that depends on how much water your sprayer puts out per hectare. Calibrate first (60-second nozzle catch test); our calibration calculator does the arithmetic.
What order do products go into the tank?
Follow your product labels — the general convention is water first, then agitation on, then products by formulation (water-soluble bags, granules/powders, flowables, emulsifiables, then adjuvants/wetters last). Never premix concentrates together neat.
Do I legally have to record what I mixed and sprayed?
Yes — professional users in the UK must keep records of every plant protection product application (product, rate, area, date, operator) for at least three years. SwardOps builds this record as your crew sprays, with COSHH data sheets attached.
